Things That See: Context-Aware Multi-modal Interaction
نویسنده
چکیده
Human activity is extremely complex. Current technology allows us to handcraft real-time perception systems for a specific perceptual task. However, such an approach is inadequate for building systems that accommodate the variety that is typical of human environments. In this paper we define a framework for context aware observation of human activity. A context in this framework is defined as a network of situations. A situation network is interpreted as a specification for a federation of processes to observe humans and their actions. We present a process-based software architecture for building systems for observing activity. We discuss methods for building systems using this framework. The framework and methods are illustrated with examples from observation of human activity in an “Augmented Meeting Environmen”.

Collaborative, Context-aware Experience Sampling for Depressive Patients
We propose a collaborative, context-aware, and multi-modal experience sampling method called CoESM to record experience samples of depressed patients. The CoESM utilizes location and activity sensors on a mobile device to detect a depressed patient’s physical and social activity levels. We hope that through collaboration, context-awareness, and multi-modality input, the CoESM can help a psychol...
متن کاملExperiments with Multi-modal Interfaces in a Context-Aware City Guide
In recent years there has been considerable research into the development of mobile context-aware applications. The canonical example of such an application is the context-aware tour-guide that offers city visitors information tailored to their preferences and environment. The nature of the user interface for these applications is critical to their success. Moreover, the user interface and the ...
متن کاملA context inference and multi-modal approach to mobile information access
Multimodal context-aware computing offers system support that incorporates the environmental, cognitive and computational state of an individual while allowing them to compose inputs and receive outputs across a range of available modalities. Here we present two support planes from our ubiquitous system architecture, entitled Nightingale. These include a multi-modal application framework and co...

متن کاملBuild a Multi-modal Interaction in Cloud Computing
The purpose of cloud computing is to construct an environment that helps people pursue a convenient life in daily life by supporting services at anytime, anywhere without showing devices themselves. It is important for the system to aware information of what users want and is doing in the cloud environment. Hence, interest and study in multi-modal interaction in cloud computing field have been ...
